Iron Spine Sally is the handle of a blogger who writes about her post-divorce transformation from an emotionally abused woman to a proud survivor. Her description of her Blogger Space, below, is an inspiring testament to the healing powers of creativity. Read more of her story at www.timeofherlives.com.
Six months ago I fled my husband (whom I feared) and my home (which I adored) under cover of night. I left a three-page letter on an antique chair in the middle of the kitchen floor. Three pages to end ten years of emotional abuse. Three pages to tell him, at last, that I’d uncovered his lies. I took with me only what I could fit in a laundry basket.
It was a moonless night in December. One week before Christmas. It had been my only opportunity. I couldn’t wait any longer.
In the last 90 days I have lived on a friend’s couch, a for-sale property and now, comfortably, in my own two-bedroom apartment. Thanks to my netbook, I’ve been blogging all the way.
These days I do most of my blogging from the couch. But I’ve got big plans.
I love the security of my one-year lease, but the road is calling me. I “suffer” from chronic wanderlust.
Left to my own devices, I seem to have achieved a sort of retired showgirl/carnival-worker/circus-performer decor. My collection of vintage luggage employed as furniture implies that at any moment I may pack it all up and take this show on the road. It suits me. I am a woman in transition.
